To make Italian tomato sauce, you will need:

28 ounces canned whole tomatoes, drained and crushed

1/4 cup olive oil

1 small onion, minced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

To prepare the sauce, heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the pan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.

You can adjust the flavor of the sauce to your liking by adding more or less of the herbs and spices, or by including other ingredients such as fresh basil, parsley, or red pepper flakes.

Italian tomato sauce is a versatile and delicious addition to many dishes, and it is easy to prepare at home with just a few simple ingredients.
